South Dakota Soybean Stories: Amanda Radke

In a world often divided by urban and rural lifestyles, Amanda Radke, author, speaker, and rancher, stands as a bridge, connecting the agricultural heartland with those who may never set foot on a farm. Growing up in South Dakota, Amanda's parents cautioned her against life in production agriculture, envisioning it as laborious and financially unrewarding. Little did they know that their daughter would embark on a journey that would not only bring her back to the farm but also inspire her to become a passionate advocate for the often-overlooked voices in agriculture.

Returning to her roots after college at Radke Land and Cattle north of Mitchell, South Dakota, Amanda, alongside her husband Tyler and their four children, found a renewed purpose. She recognized that the untold stories of farmers and ranchers needed a voice—a voice that she decided to lend through her public speaking engagements, children’s books, and the creation of her podcast, "The Heart of Rural America."

Amanda's approach is not about seeking agreement but encouraging critical thinking. She challenges farmers and ranchers to confront the challenges facing agriculture. She emphasizes the importance of personal involvement, urging each individual to utilize their time, talent, and resources to advocate for the future of agriculture.

At the core of Amanda's advocacy lies a deep commitment to stewardship of the land. She emphasizes the responsibility that comes with raising livestock. Whether through rotational grazing or careful pasture management, Amanda and her family strive to leave the land better than they found it.

As Amanda continues to travel the country, speaking to diverse audiences, Amanda is not just sharing her story; she is fostering understanding, building connections, and inspiring a new generation to appreciate the heart that beats within the fields of agriculture. Through her advocacy, Amanda Radke is sowing the seeds of change, one conversation at a time.
